Analysis of Connecticut's 2024 Election Results

Last month, we published an analysis of the 2024 presidential election results in Connecticut, which showed, amongst other things, a decline in overall voter turnout when compared to the previous two elections in 2016 and 2024. Our analysis also looks at the shifting voting patterns and party majority shifts among different towns across the state.

Join the Hartford Youth Data Fellowship in 2025!

We are currently accepting applications for the 2025 cohort of Hartford Youth Data Fellows! As a part of this paid internship, fellows will gain valuable data skills and contribute to their community through hands-on workshops and project development.  Participants will learn from CTData staff, city officials, and community leaders during a five-month program that concludes with a capstone presentation. Annual Reflection & Planning Session: Equity in Data Community of Practice

Our last Community of Practice of the year will be held on on December 17^th. This session will be dedicated on reflection and planning for the upcoming year. We will also discuss how we can apply what we learned this year to enhance equity and further explore your ideas to determine the direction of this community in 2025.  You can register through the link on our website. Elizabeth Rosen and Jack Dougherty Join CTData Collaborative

CTData is expanding its Data Strategic Planning team with the addition of Elizabeth Rose and Jack Dougherty as Data Strategy Coaches. In their new roles, they'll mentor organizations on leveraging data effectively and crafting powerful stories to further their missions. “We are looking forward to pooling our skills to help more organizations through the Data Strategic Planning initiative,” commented Dougherty and Rose. “Nonprofits pursue important and meaningful work in Connecticut and improving their use of data to tell their story will help to extend their reach and impact.”

Updating the Race/Ethnicity Code List for the American Community Survey and the 2030 Census

The U.S. Census Bureau is seeking public input on a crucial initiative to improve how it categorizes race and ethnicity data. Through the Race/Ethnicity Coding Improvement Project, they're gathering feedback on how to code detailed race/ethnicity responses and American Indian or Alaska Native (AIAN) populations for both the American Community Survey (ACS) and the 2030 Census.

 

The public comment period is open until February 18, 2025, providing everyone an opportunity to contribute to this update. Comments will directly influence how write-in responses to the new combined race/ethnicity question are processed and presented.
