Next 2020 Census Data Products to be Released in 2023
On April, 27th the U.S. Census Bureau announced a delay in the release dates for the next set of 2020 Census data products. The release of the Demographic Profile and the Demographic and Housing Characteristics File (DHC) will be delayed until May 2023.

Connecticut SEO Prevention Data Portal
The SEOW Data Portal is an interactive repository for behavioral health and related data. The goal of the SEOW Data Portal is to increase accessibility and utility of Connecticut’s epidemiological data in support of a comprehensive public health approach to substance abuse prevention
and health promotion.

Connecticut Evictions: Diving Deeper
Last month, we published our report on Connecticut’s eviction crisis. In this blog post, we dive deeper into the data and explore towns with the highest number of eviction filings in recent months, from January 2021 through February 2022. As mentioned in our larger report, not all eviction cases result in the renter moving, but the filing of an
eviction case can have permanent consequences regardless of the outcome of the case. Often, the existence of an eviction case record alone leads to a renter’s applications being denied, without any consideration given to the outcome of the court case, let alone the facts and circumstances surrounding it.

Hartford Youth Researchers Begin Work this Spring
On Thursday, April 21st, CTData and staff from its Hartford Data Collaborative welcomed its first class of Hartford Youth Researchers. The six youth—who range in age from 16-21-- will be reviewing, analyzing, and reporting on data related to Youth Behavioral Health alongside staff from the Hartford Data Collaborative.

The work of integrating equitable data practices can feel like we’re both moving one pebble at a time and pushing a boulder up the hill at once. Still, many members of our group have seen progress, have
experienced challenges, and have lessons to share.
This month, you’ll hear from sever members of our community about the things they’re working on in their respective institutions, lessons they’ve learned, and questions they still struggle with. You’ll be able to learn with them and also share your own wisdom. Please join us.

During the Basics of Data Literacy, you will learn how to evaluate whether the data you use or generate is of high-quality, how to evaluate the quality of data other people create, and how to understand more of the data that is being presented to you. You will be able to take when you leave the workshop to
