Data is all around us. We hear about it in news stories, read about it in the paper, and try to learn from it to improve our work. Yet, with this data all around you, you still may feel overwhelmed when it is presented, and may not know how to increase your comfort using data.
During the Basics of Data Literacy, you will learn how to evaluate whether the data you use or generate is of high-quality, how to evaluate the quality of data other people create, and how to understand more of the data that is being presented to you. You will be able to take when you leave the workshop to improve your own data work. You will
leave this workshop:

Understanding what “data literacy” is, and why it is important for making good decisions.

Being more critical consumers & creators of data conclusions from data.

Being more careful “appliers” of data interpretations.

Having a better understanding of data literacy & ways to immediately change how participants engage with data.
This introductory workshop will provide you with skills you can apply to improve your own ability to read, communicate, and use data. You will come away with a greater understanding of data collection and analysis and a more critical eye towards data encountered in everyday life.

Hartford Data Collaborative is awarded an $80,000 grant

Hartford Data Collaborative was awarded an $80,000 grant from Learning and Action in Policy and Partnerships, a national program focused on improving health equity through state-community data-sharing
partnerships. The grant and technical assistance will support Hartford Data Collaborative in leveraging COVID-19 relief funds to advance policies for data sharing and integration in Connecticut. The program is led by Data Across Sectors for Health and the Center for Health Care Strategies with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Hartford Youth Researchers Wanted

Hartford Do you work with Hartford Youth? The Hartford Data Collaborative (HDC) is starting a new project on Youth Behavioral Health and is seeking to incorporate Hartford young people (ages 16-25) in this
work. we are looking for 1-2 member from different youth boards in the city to join HDC this spring. Youth Researchers will participate in data workshops, attend meetings, and study and present data to city/state officials and community organizations, including other youth board members. The deadline for the applications is March 11, 2022.

Community Solutions (CS), a non-profit organization is hiring a Graphic Design & Data Visualization Intern that will work on-site in their office at the Swift Factory, alongside their Real Estate team. Their work will directly contribute to the success of this exceptional social impact project and their graphic design, and communication
skills will be used to convey the story of the property, tenants, residents, and neighborhood. They will be working with a passionate team, and for whom this project is much more than a job.
